Masterful exhibition at Camden AG, London 2009The Dutch artist TON BOUDEWIJN (Born in 1939, Rotterdam/The Netherlands) gives us a demonstration of his high ability and of the creativity of his works, surprising us with his own characteristic drawings and colours. In this occasion, the artist presents 17 works on large canvas, giving us the chance to have a clear vision of the aesthetic and ophthalmic bet of his point of view. In the fulfilled works we’ll be able to be dazzled by the explicit content where he evokes the beginning of the earth, with a fine and wise lesson on how to approach the origin of the world avoiding the obvious. We’ll also be able to subtly find there a unique atmosphere of personal feelings. The artist takes a totally increasing direction for his artworks and his way of expressing himself, along with his idea of “polychromy”. The technique used by the artist (acrylic) gives us a good understanding of his appropriate use of the material that accompanies him in his artistic challenge. This evolution, instilled by its own process, is reflected in the intensive and progressive use of primary and complementary colours, supported by an original internal equilibrium. He could be said to be a man of own convictions, gifted with an extraordinary and visionary eye. In his creative perspective, he adapts the principles of mathematics to make experiments by demolishing volumes and plane surfaces. Ton Boudewijn approaches the compositions bursting with lines and geometrical shapes, subtly introducing sensual curves, generating a “dance” in every drawing and shaping a picture. The artist delights us with his works of authentic poetry, where the creation shifts us to a cosmic world of a “dreamy” air. While the works of the masters dominate the artistic world, this series of pictures presented by Ton Boudewijn can be easily approached to them. Ton Boudewijn participated to collective exhibitions at Camden Art Gallery, London, gaining positive and interesting critics. He has been represented by Camden Art Gallery at the Art Shopping Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, in October 2008. Rose Marie Bellemur - Critic ArtistLaura Manganello - Translation
